The shadow turned a coiling red. Within an instant hands plunged blindly into the mans palms, twisting the ring desperately off its finger. Then, slowly, nothing. A moment passed as success and failure were realised. Edging back into the clouded shadows its presence became stronger. Finally, its mission accomplished. But, why was it melting away?
